Week Four
St John’s Priory Update February 5th 2010
Dear Parents,
Congratulations
Special congratulations must go this week to our sports teams. The U11 girls netball team won a close game against Bloxham, 9 - 7 and the U11 boys’ hockey team beat teams from Bloxham and Winchester House. The U9 boys’ hockey team played with tremendous spirit before losing narrowly to Winchester House. Considering this is the first time most of our boys have played hockey, these are extremely encouraging results and bode well for the future. Please see the website for the official match reports.
Parents Association Dinner Dance
The Parents Association Dinner Dance will be held on 26th March 2010 at the Rye Hill Golf Club. You will be receiving the invitation in the next few days. Book early to avoid disappointment!
Swimming
The new arrangements for swimming are working very well. The swimming coach at Bloxham Pool has suggested that, if your child is affected by the water, they should wear swimming goggles. Please ensure these are properly named.
Late comers
Children are all supposed to be at School before 8.35am every morning. Our morning routine is carefully planned and it is disruptive for all concerned if children are persistently late. Please try to ensure that your sons and daughters are at school on time.
Clubs and after school activities next week
Owing to fixtures and other commitments there will be no Study Skills for Year 5 on Monday, no golf or netball on Tuesday and no lacrosse on Thursday.
Year 2 games
We have had to slightly rearrange our timings for Year 2 games, which leaves little time for them to change either before or after School Assembly. From next Friday would they come to school dressed in their sports kit and track suits or hoodies and bring their school uniform in a bag.
Hoodies
We have now received the adult sizing set for our SJP hoodies and if any parents would like to order one please see Kate for more details.
Music lessons
Music at SJP is enjoying a new lease of life and we now have lots of wonderful performance opportunities for all our students who learn a musical instrument. The number of instrumental lessons on offer and quality of teaching is incredible - from the oboe to the trombone, the saxophone to percussion and many, many more. We would love to see as many of our pupils playing at least one musical instrument and if you are thinking about your children starting lessons please don't hesitate to ask for further information or advice from David Richarson or Kate.
UNICEF non-uniform day
Many thanks to everyone who sent in their £1s for the non-uniform day. We raised £150.
