St John’s Priory Update February 19th 2010

Dear Parents

I hope you are all enjoying a restful half term.

Parents Association Annual General Meeting – Tuesday 23rd February at 7.30pm in the School Hall

The PA AGM is taking place on Tuesday evening and I would encourage you all to come.  All parents are automatically members of the Parents Association and all views are valued and welcome.  New parents are particularly therefore welcome.  We have some important decisions to make, including the election of three key positions, Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary.  The PA does some fantastic work on behalf of the school.  This is your opportunity to be involved.

School Shop

A number of parents have questioned whether fruit alone is sufficient for a mid-morning snack, particularly when, during these cold weather conditions, the children might need a few extra calories.  Whilst I would not wish to lose the healthy option or have the boys and girls eating quantities of chocolate and sweets, I am happy to consider other possibilities.  As from Monday, we will be selling a range of cereal bars at break time in the School shop as an experiment until the end of term.  I am mindful that some of the cereal bars on sale can be very high in both sugar and salt so we have tried to research this carefully to only sell the healthiest on the market.  Initially this will be on a cash basis at 30p per cereal bar.  If the demand is there, we will consider introducing an account system which could be added to the school bill in due course.

Prayer Box

We are introducing a prayer box this half term which will be located outside the school office.  This is for parents or pupils to write a note and put in the box if there is anything or anyone they would like the prayer group to think about or say a prayer for on Wednesdays.

Sport

Apologies for the error in last weeks Update.  The fixtures against Warwick Juniors this week are on Friday, starting at 4.00pm.  The U11’s are playing hockey and the U9’s are playing rugby.  Parents are most welcome to come to support.
